Jibber Jobber and the Paloma Method
In the middle of July, I received an email from a web-based company called Jibber Jobber. I checked out the site, and it looked interesting, so I started corresponding with Paloma Bowland, Business Development JibberJobber USA. After a few emails, we started speaking on the telephone, and she started telling me to stop looking for a job and to start managing my career. She convinced me to start using Jibber Jobber by inputting my contacts, and before I knew it, Paloma had become my de facto and pro bono career counselor.
I have not fully utilized the Jibber Jobber web site yet, and it is a chore to input the contact information from my piles of business cards, legal pads and emails (but it should be done, and someday, I'll get some help), but Paloma has given me a lot of good suggestions. She advised me to be even more proactive than I already was when preparing for an interview and gave me numerous tips on managing the interview process. She convinced me to clean up and reorganize my blog, coordinate it with my LinkedIn and Facebook profiles, do lots of self-evaluation, revise my resume, and write an article for the NY Times. So far, every suggestion has been a chore and a learning process, but I am already feeling the difference, and the benefits of self-discovery and putting out the real me will soon follow.
Thank you Paloma. If Jibber Jobber is even 1% of what you are, it's a real gem!
